What Are The Signs Your Commercial Gas Heater Needs Repair Service?

If you are a business owner or commercial facility manager, you have a responsibility to ensure the comfort of the building's users, such as employees and customers. This requires making sure that your commercial heater is working properly at all times.

If you heat your commercial building with gas, there are warning signals that you should watch out for to know when to get a commercial gas heater repair service. Here's a look at some common indications your gas heater is experiencing problems and needs urgent repair service.

Your commercial space feels cold

The primary purpose of any commercial heater installation is to heat a particular commercial space. If the temperature within your commercial space is colder than desired, the first thing you should do is check if your heating unit is running. A lack of gas supply or ignition can cut off the power to the unit, resulting in no heating output at all.

If the unit is powered up, check the thermostat setting. If the temperature setting on the thermostat is correct and the thermostat isn't broken, then your heater probably has an underlying problem that is preventing it from heating effectively or at all.

The best way to get the temperature back to a comfortable level is to get your heater checked and repaired immediately.

Your gas heater produces odd sounds

If your gas heater has served you for years without problems, you're probably familiar with the sounds it makes when it is operating well. But gas heaters wear and tear from normal use. They can also develop problems due to neglect or misuse.

If you start hearing strange sounds coming from your heating unit while it is running, this is an indication that something's wrong with it. The noises won't go away on their own, so it's best to have them addressed before they result in a total breakdown of your heating system.

Your heater won't stop running

Your gas heater isn't meant to run non-stop. Once it achieves the desired room temperature, the thermostat will send communication to the unit that it is time to stop running. The unit will only be turned on again when the temperature drops below the target temperature level.

A common reason why your gas heater may run continuously after the target temperature has been reached is if the thermostat is set to "On" instead of "Auto." If switching back to "Auto" doesn't make the problem disappear, then you might have a faulty limit switch.

A commercial heating emergency can be detrimental to your daily business or facility operations in many ways. Besides reducing the overall productivity of workers, it can also lead to a bad customer experience. If you suspect you're having issues with your commercial gas heater, don't hesitate to contact an HVAC company near you for gas heater repair service.
